A skittish Male Belted Kingfisher was distracted by the wind and the activity at the Lake Apopka Florida Wildlife refuge. Often I have tried to catch a pose from a Kingfisher, usually on a lone telephone wire near a small lake. This one was just a few feet off of the water, awaiting stray minnow in a bubbling puddle below him. This young specimen stayed on the windy branch just long enough for me to capture this handsome pose.

A retired helicopter pilot and Vietnam Veteran. Live in Kissimmee, Florida.... a beautiful place, with lots of photo opportunity. I photograph what I like, and it could be something different every day. This has become something of a quest for me. I want to become a Fine Artist.
