Description
Selected as winner of the contest for the Logo for the Fine Art American group "Amateur Photographers" for the month of October 2015.
A Sand Hill Crane showing full mating plumage at the Chisolm Park lakefront near Saint Cloud, Florida. This fluffy look takes a lot of grooming, much of it being accomplished by using their long beaks, and is essential in the effectiveness of finding a quality mate. These large birds are common to Florida, and they mate for life. These birds migrate as far north as Canada. While it is rare to see this level of fluffy plumage, it is common to see these birds dance in the marshes s a mating ritual.
It isn't much different than our proms.
